A Day in the Life

The day starts with coffee and a catch-up with colleagues

I usually get to the office around 8:30am. There is often morning chatter in the kitchen while everyone gets their breakfast (we are always well stocked with coffee, yogurt, protein bars, cereal). I am normally in my seat working by 9am.

Team meetings & to-do lists help me organize the day ahead

I start my day by cleaning out my inbox and looking at my to-do list for what I want to accomplish that day (which I write before I leave the previous day). Every Monday we have a morning meeting at 9am with the entire office to talk through what each other’s week looks like in terms of client meetings, projects that need attention, etc.

Every day is different, but typically….

In the morning I tend to do more of my reactive work such as following up with candidates on their interviews, writing candidate assessments, catching up on emails, secondary research, and following up with colleagues to discuss action points. I also usually have weekly or bi-weekly client progress calls where we speak to our clients to present new candidates and/or receive feedback.

After lunch, I like to do more of my proactive work by reaching out to candidates. I have found that candidates are more receptive to conversations in the afternoon. Once I speak with a candidate and it makes sense to meet in person, I will conduct those scheduled meetings.

It’s a very collaborative environment

I find joy in having a great conversation with a candidate, receiving positive feedback from a client and having a breakthrough in research. We celebrate and share our achievements so small highlights throughout the day feel like meaningful successes.

As an Associate I have the opportunity to interact with clients

The office space allows us to eat together at lunch, watch TV (normally sports) and catch up.
Some days are busier than others, and eating at your desk does occur but we try to not let that be the norm.

We also love to find an excuse to have happy hours or celebrations for new joiners, a visitor from another DP office, a birthday/work anniversary… or just a random Thursday! Around once a quarter we do an off-site activity, such as cooking class, a BBQ, sailing, going to the US tennis open. We find it important to get to know one another on a personal level to form trust and collaboration.

There are highlights in every day
